Scott Stearney

Vice Admiral Scott Stearney, "Sterno" commanded Navy units during peacetime and in combat. Admiral Stearney, handpicked to be CENTCOM's Director of Operations, planned and led the U.S. military missions: INHERENT RESOLVE, FREEDOM'S SENTINEL, and SPARTAN SHIELD in Afghanistan and the Islamic states of Iraq, Syria, Yemen, and Egypt. During this challenging time, Admiral Stearney turned plans into actions directly impacting critical threats to national and local security on every level. As a result of consummate "operational acumen and leadership," ISIS and other terrorist threats were destroyed or disrupted at a critical time in world history. His leadership and operational successes at CENTCOM vaulted Admiral Stearney to Commander NAVENT and U.S. Fifth Fleet. Sterno was a superb Naval Officer, aviator, and instructor who led from the front and by example.
