John served his country with great pride and devotion for four decades. He was recognized for his leadership, skill and valor during two wars and later rose to command the Amphibious Forces Pacific Fleet. During the seizure of the USS Pueblo and other armistice violations, he served as senior negotiator for the United Nations Command.
