Pearl Harbor Memorial. Mount Soledad
This plaque is dedicated to the members of San Diego Pearl Harbor Carnation Chapter 3 who were in Pearl Harbor, on December 7, 1941, when the Japanese attacked our fleet in Pearl Harbor.
On the morning of December 7, 1941, these young men: ages 18-25, were on duty when they were attacked by the Japanese Imperial Army. Many were killed, we lost a ship in the harbor, the USS Arizona, and many other ships were damaged. These were brave young men who fought for our country and this plaque is to memorialize them.
They were dedicated to telling others to never forget what happened that infamous day. Their motto was: “Keep America Alert, Remember Pearl Harbor.” They carried this motto to many schools, clubs, Military events, and to anyone who wanted them to speak. They put in over 15,000 hours speaking about their experiences that infamous day. They wanted our children to know what happened and to always be alert so that it would never happen again.
We owe a debt of gratitude to these brave young men who fought for their country.
