Thomas Lee Rosenbaum Born May 14, 1927, In East Liverpool Ohio

His parents were Hazel Lemoine Rosenbaum and Anna Sabina Pelley

Tom had one brother and two sisters: Richard, Dorothy and Elizabeth. Tom was the baby of the family.

Richard, his brother, was a veteran of WWII, Korea and Vietnam. Tom looked up to his brother and his military career started because he wanted to be a Marine, just like his brother.

Tom enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1945 at the age of 18 and he served at the end of WWII.

He went thru boot camp at Parris Island South Carolina

In 1946 he was on the USS Renville somewhere in China, possibly in Peitaiho Beach. He spoke of being in a lookout tower and providing security.

After this service for less than a year he went back to high school and Tom graduated from

East Liverpool High School in 1947.

After high school he was hired by the FBI as a detective/classifier in the fingerprint section, earning

$2300 yearly.

As a matter of fact, he received a letter signed by J Edgar Hoover, the Director of the FBI.

In 1948 he re-enlisted in the Marine Corps, and became an Investigator with the Military Police.

Around 1951 he was selected for Embassy Duty in Tel Aviv, Israel. The family has his original orders for duty and a few pictures. Another family heirloom is a beautiful box that was presented to Tom at the end of his service in 1953 possibly by the US Ambassador to Israel.

Tom mostly served during the Korean War, his 8mm film of his time in Korea was destroyed but a few pictures did. Ask his daughter LeAnn to share these pictures with you!

Tom visited many places during his service in the Marine Corps between 1945 and 1956. They included: Parris Island, SC, Asbury Park, New Jersey, Camp Pendleton and El Toro in California, China, Hawaii, Great Lakes Illinois, Washington DC, Korea, Japan and Israel and many Middle Eastern and European countries.

One interesting fact about his time in England: He witnessed the coronation of Queen Elizabeth the II around 1953.

Tom collected coins from his travels around the world with the Marine Corps and his family still has them. Some of these coins are from countries that do not exist today.

He ended his career with the Corps in 1956 as a Staff Sergeant

He met his future wife Jean Genaitis, in 1956, at Long Beach State University at a sorority/ fraternity event, married in 1958 and starting their teaching career in 1959/1960 respectively

Tom and Jean had three children, Jill, LeAnn and Tom Jr. and six grandchildren (Matt, Bryan, Kasha, Xander, Max and Ruby) and one great granddaughter Raquel.

Thomas Lee Rosenbaum passed away on June 13, 2022 at the age of 95. He lived a long healthy life with family around him always!

He always told his family that “ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS”

AND THIS DEDICATION TODAY IF PROOF THAT HIS FAMILY WAS LISTENING
