Hoyt was taken P.O.W. by the Japanese on April 9, 1942 and put on the Bataan Death March. He was held for 3 years 5 months at P.O.W. Camps, O'Donnell, Cabanatvan, Davao in the Philippines. Sent on a Prisoner ship to Tayama Camp in Japan.
