Staff Sereant Miyamura received the Medal of Honor for his actions on the night of April 24-25, 1951. During an intense firefight, while covering the withdrawal of his men, he killed more than 50 enemy soldiers including hand-to-hand combat. He was wounded and taken prisoner and served nealy two years in a POW Camp in North Korea.
