Jerry enlisted in the US Marine Corps in 1943 at 18 years of age. He participated in action against the enemy in Okinawa in 1945 as well as the Asia Pacific theater. As an aviation mechanist and rifle sharpshooter he defended his country with honor during WW II. Jerry was discharged on April 1 1945 as a staff sergeant earning a good conduct medal. We love and miss you always Dad

Gerolimo led his unit to repair and keep airworthy many of the 3,000 aircraft which flew in Operation Iceberg to take control of Okinawa.
