Richard trained to save lives in combat conditions. Served as an Army Medic 82nd Airborne. Was injured jumping out of a plane but rehabilitated. Following active duty, he also taught others and used his skills with the Davidson County (NC) Rescue Squad. After discharge, he became a paramedic and, on April 22nd, 2020, lost his life while attempting to save the life of another.
