Gregory A. Phillips was born December 5th, 1967. Gregory was a U.S. Army SP4 67U10 Helicopter Repairer and M16 sharpshooter, stationed at Forte Kobbe Panama, who’s unit was cited for valor with a Presidential Award. Panama had tensions in the region leading up the invasion. He participated in Operation Candela-87 for the region’s multinational readiness. On a routine parts run, he was attacked by local rebels and fended them off with a large wrench. In high school, he scored an ‘A’ in power mechanics and loved to work on anything mechanical. His natural aptitude gave the Army superior service supporting the 210th Combat Aviation Battalion. Post military, Gregory became an airplane pilot and flight instructor and was working towards his air transport certification by teaching aviation and performing commercial work in San Diego. Tragically, he died May 19th 1992 in a traffic accident near his home in Pt. Loma, CA. Gregory loved music and playing guitar, and loved his family. He is survived by his only child, Clarissa M. Phillips.
