THE ARMY COMMENDATION MEDAL IS PRESENTED TO SERGEANT E-5 RICHARD G SCOTT, US56397536, UNITED STATES ARMY 

For outstanding meritorious service in support of United States objectives in the Republic of Vietnam during the period of August 1966 to July 1967. Sergeant Scott distinguished himself while serving as a team leader with Company C, 1st Battalion, 12th Infantry. Upon deployment to Vietnam, Sergeant Scott rapidly adjusted to the combat situation, demonstrating his tactical knowledge and leadership ability. He was a constant source of reliability, gaining the respect of his superiors and fellow soldiers. A combat veteran after a year in Vietnam, he displayed quick reactions under fire, a strong devotion to duty and an enthusiastic desire to complete each mission to the best of his ability. His actions and accomplishments were a source of inspiration and encouragement to the men of his unit. Sergeant Scott’s exceptional display of professional ability, aggressiveness and ingenuity is in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflects great credit upon himself, his unit and the United States Army.
