A member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Medical Cadet Corps, Perry was a Music Teacher at Union College in Lincoln, NE when he was drafted to serve as Medical Clerk. He served as Clerk for a thousand-bed field hospital in Cherbourg, France. As a musician, he was selected by the Company Chaplain to be the pianist for all religious services for the Company.
