MEDALS-RIBBONS: Presidential Unit Citation, American Defense, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign

Tech Sgt. Algar received the second highest award for valor, the Distinguished Service Cross. While serving in the liberation of the Philippines, fighting against a fanatical Japanese enemy, he displayed extraordinary heroism which resulted in his death.
