Christopher was a fireteam leader and lead vehicle commander as his platoon was attached to 1st Battalion 3rd Marines as provisional infantry. While conducting a foot patrol of Al Luz Island, he was seriously injured as an IED detonated beneath him while crossing a bridge. Medically retired but still determined, Christopher continues to serve his country as a Police Officer with the Chula Vista Police Department.
