Glenn served on the USS Mellette (APA-156) during the battle of Iwo Jima, also witnessing Japan's surrender on the USS Missouri from the USS Mellette. Also served on the USS Craig (DD-885), USS Trigger (SS-564), USS Tang(SS-306) and USS Sargo (SSN-583).
