Radioman Senior Chief Petty Officer Folwarski's notable career included serving in the Atlantic and Pacific Fleets as a Communications Technician (CT) and Radioman (RM), onboard Amphibious Ships (LPH-4, LSD-33, LPH-10) as well as on Destroyer units (DD-684, DLG-30, FF-1055). His missions included the Cuban Crisis Campaign and the Vietnam War. His greatest achievement was during a Western Pacific deployment onboard the USS HORNE (DLG-30), off of Vietnam in support of Commander Cruiser-Destroyer Group SEVENTH Fleet. He personally maintained ship/shore communications at peak efficiency despite poor propagation, euipment limitations and the high priority onboard staff receiving/sending over seven hundred messages per day, earning him the Navy Achievement Medal.
