Seaman 1st Class Thomas P. Cockburn (Burns), of Cisco, Georgia, served on the USS Wisconsin participating in the Battle of Okinawa, shooting down kamikaze attackers. He also participated in the liberation of the Philippines. This hillbilly boy personifies "America's Greatest Generation".
