Robert "Bob" Umpleby joined the United States Navy at the height of World War Two. He deployed to the European Theater and saw intense combat during Operation Dragoon, the Allied invasion of Southern France. Following this battle, he was assigned to the destroyer, U.S.S. Babbitt in North Africa until the end of the war. Bob Umpleby's honorable service to his nation exemplifies America's Greatest Generation.
