Jack proudly served aboard the USS Cusk (SSG-348), a pioneer in the missile field. It was the first submarine to launch a guided missile from its deck, a forerunner of the ballistic missile submarines of the future. Jack's service aboard allowed her to successfully complete her missions. Jack received an Honorable Discharge for his outstanding service.
