Herbert Anthony Kirch was lovingly known as Uncle Bud. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on May 1, 1925. After graduating from high school on May 26, 1943 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy on May 27, 1943 and started active duty on June 3, 1943.
His Basic Training took place in Great Lakes, Illinois and went on to Navel Training in Fort Pierce, Florida.
Uncle Bud served on the USS Littoral Combat Ship #76 and on the AATC Louisiana
He received a Victory Medal, American Area Campaign Medal, and the Atlantic Pacific Area Campaign Medal.
He was honorably discharged on the 11th day of April 1946 as a Gunner’s Mate Second Class.
