The entire crew of the "Purple Bull" met their death when their aircraft collided with another while flying in formation. Captain Ira Corpening trained with the crew who lost their lives, but by a twist of fate he did not fly that day. He dedicates this plaque to honor those crewmembers who were known to be on the aircraft.
