William served his country aboard the first nuclear powered aircraft carrier USS Enterprise (CVN-65) and the USS Sutter County (LST-1150), he was deployed to Vietnam where he served in Vietnamese counteroffensive operations. William was originally rated as a Signalman and then cross rated to Air Controlman.
