Serving aboard USS Nereus AS-17, Disbursing Clerk 2nd Class Tom Cosby accompanied
submarines USS Carbonero SS337 and USS Cusk SS349 to
Hawaii in 1955 and the first firing Of an
operational missile from a submarine, USS Tunny SSG 282.
Later he witnessed the transfer of JDS Kuroshio (formerly
USS Mingo) to Japan---their first submarine since WWII.

Prior to being liberated by elements of the ISt cavalry
Division, Tom and Patrick were American child civilian
prisoners of war for over three years in Santo Tomas
Prison camp in the Philippines during WWII. The Crosby
brothers later joined the Navy during the Korean War era
to show their appreciation to their Country for their
freedom.
Crying and waving as they sing "God Bless America." rescued
internees of santo Tomas display the first American flag they
have seen in 37 months.
