MEDALS-RIBBONS: Aviation Electronics Technician, Good Conduct, National Defense Service
John faithfully and honorably served on the USS Bon Homme Richard (CV-31) as an Aviation Electronics Technician. He married a fellow Veteran, Maida Lee Judy, and they were the first married couple training at NAS North Island. They had two boys; Bruce W. Silva and Mark A. Silva and raised their family in San Diego. John continued his education and received a PhD at UCSD in bio-engineering and then worked and retired in civil service for the Navy at NELC (NAVWAR) Point Loma.
