MEDALS-RIBBONS: American Theater Campaign, Philippine Liberation
Harold was a Signalman 2nd Class, specializing in visual communication, using flags and powerful lamps. Served on the hospital ship USS Comfort AH-6 during combat operations in the Philippines and Okinawa. While off the coast of Okinawa, ship was hit by a Japanese suicide plane, killing 26 sailors.
