MEDALS-RIBBONS: Asiatic-Pacific Campaign, European-African-
Middle Eastern Campaign
Pete stood diligent watch in the wheelhouse as the Flagship of Destroyer
Escort 55 safely delivered six convoys to North Africa and Europe. They
rendered medical aid to more than 100 merchant ships. The USS Wingfield
accepted surrender of Maloelap and Jaluit Atolls (Marshall Islands) and
supervised the garrisons thereafter.
