Allen Wallace stood first signal watch after the USS Hopewell was commissioned. His abilities were apparent during the Invasion of the Marshal Invasion of the Marshall Islands, Solomon Islands, Luzon and Bataan. At Corregidor the ship survived hits from four rounds in less than a minute. With his deep abiding faith, he lived to serve his community for the rest of his life. Wallace was aboard the USS Hopewell as it escorted the USS Missouri into Tokyo Bay for the signing of the treaty that ended the war.
