Wade Edward Treadwell graduated Roy J. Wasson High School in June, 1978. He joined the United States Navy in February of 1980 as an Operations Specialist. Wade served 10 years active duty and another 10 years Reservist until recalled to Active Duty in 2001 spending a year in Guantanamo, Cuba.
Full Retirement beginning April 2004.
Wade served 22 years of honorable service. He received extensive training through-out his career in the Navy gaining experience in a wide variety of duties and was awarded numerous ribbons, medals and commendations for his service, including medals from the Army.
Navy Good Conduct Medal (2); National Defense Service Medal (2); Navy “E” Ribbon; Navy & Marine Corps Overseas Service Ribbon (3); Naval Reserve Meritorious Service Medal (3); Meritorious Unit Commendation; Navy Unit Commendation; Armed Forces Reserve Medal W/ “M” device; Army Achievement Medal; Navy Pistol Marksmanship Ribbon (W/Sharpshooter Device); Navy Rifle Marksmanship Ribbon.
While stationed on the USS Blueridge in Yokosuka Japan 1980-1983, Wade met and married Maria Rink and had 2 beautiful children, Matthew and Marissa. Some of that Wade’s most memorable duties while on the Blue Ridge was flight control of the Seahawk Helicopters, and the flight control bringing in the 3 star Admiral.
In 1990, after completing his duty at the Fleet Combat Station in Point Loma, Wade began his transition from active duty to civilian life, he met and married Vivian Villasenor and her 3 children Michelle, Natalie and Nicole to blend a beautiful and unique family of 5 children, at that time (2) age 6, (3) age 5. Wade joined the reserves in 1990. Wade made lifelong friends in his active and reservist years that he stays in contact with still today.
During Wade’s time in the reserves and following he worked for Qualcomm in San Diego as a Telecomm Engineer, Sr. He enjoyed 20 years growing with Qualcomm until his retirement in September of 2018.
Wade is now enjoying life and spending as much time as he can with his growing family of 11 grandchildren, Golfing and biking with friends and family, learning new skills of building, landscaping and now working for American Airlines to fulfill a childhood dream of working with aircraft.
It is an honor to gift Wade Edward Treadwell this plaque to commemorate his service in the USN.
