Thomas Herbert Farnes, known as Herb, was born on Dec. 13, 1906 in Lovell, Wyo. and participated in many community activities in his hometown. He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Virginia starting in 1932. After returning home, he served in the Wyoming National Guard 115th Calvary from 1932 to 1935 and also went to the Coyne Electrical Trade School in Chicago, Ill. in 1934. In 1943, during WW II, he enlisted in the US Navy as an Apprentice Seaman doing Boot Training in San Diego and spending most of his time on a tugboat in the Aleutian Islands and adanced to the rate of Elecrician's Mate First Class. He married Vera Baird on Dec. 27, 1945 and worked for the Maration Oil Co in Lovell as an electrician. In 1956 he was transferred to Denver where they bought a house in the suburb of Littleton and always participated in church and family activities. In 2003 he and his wife moved to San Diego, Ca to be closer to 3 of their five children who lived there. He passed away on Sep. 29, 2004 and is buried in the Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park in Riverton, UT just south of Salt Lake City. His wife Vera passed away on Feb. 11, 2011 and is also buried in Riverton. His 5 children, 3 spouses, and 15 grandchildren wish to honor him.
