MEDALS-RIBBONS: Good Conduct, Amerian Campaign, European-
African-Middle Eastern Campaign, World War 11 Victory, Army of
Occupation
On November 24, 1944, Scheff's platoon, advancing across open
German terrain under withering fire. was the only one to reach the
objective. Wounded, Scheff crawled to an exposed window redirecting
artillery fire. His courageous actions saved lives, maintained the
position, and reflect the highest credit on himself and the armed forces
of the United States.
