Steve, a product of the U.S. Naval Academy, spoke fluent Russian and served in a myriad of positions. His favorites were as a Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Warfare Specialist, Sniper School Instructor, Artillery Forward Observer, and duty as a Headquarters Company Executive Officer. He flew with HMX-1 Nighthawks, the sole helicopter transport squadron serving the U.S. President.
