Paul Torian showed bravery, valor and courage with company K, 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division at Bougainville, Solomon Islands earning the Navy Cross and a Purple Heart for action against enemy forces. Paul again earned a Purple Heart for action against enemy forces on the island of Guam. Upon returning to service during the Korean War Paul was assigned to the Recruit Training Command to oversea the training of Marine Recruits.
