James flew numerous aircraft including the B-50 Superfortress, the OV-10 Bronco, and the C-141 Starlifter for which he was the Aircraft Commander. He also served as an Instructor Pilot and while in Vietnam a Forward Air Controller. James was Killed in Action in the Bien Hoa Province, Vietnam.
