Caesar Felix Pastore (1899-1967)
USN, 1917-1920; USMC/R, 1942-1946
Caesar was honorably discharged from the U. S. Navy after serving aboard the USS Huntington in WWI.
During WWII, the well-known restaurateur joined the Marine Corps as an officer, where he successfully managed the Commissioned Officer's Mess at MCRD. Honorably discharged as coxswain from USS Thornton. Retired at the rank of Major.
Caesar was best known locally for the Italian restaurant bearing his name from the 1920s to the 1980s. He stepped away from the successful business to serve his country in the Second World War. He was truly a member of the Greatest Generation. Members of the Pastore family still live in the San Diego area.
