LT Underwood served as a Supply Corps Officer in Combat Zones of South Vietnam and the South China Sea. First, aboard the destroyer USS BLUE (DD-744) off the coasts of Vietnam and Korea. Then he was assigned with the fighting "CAN DO" SeaBees Construction Battalion in Cam Ranh Bay, South Vietnam. CBMU 302 supported U.S. Marines and Swift Boat Brown Water Navy Boats in II,III & IV Corps throughout South Vietnam.
