DOD Distinguished Civilian Service Medal

WestPac destroyer duty. During Vietnam War he served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense and Assistant to the Secretary of Defense for Legislative Affairs. In these posts he led efforts in behalf of American POWs/MIAs and obtained key congressional support for critical DOD legislative programs. Later he received a Presidential appointment as US Ambassador to Spain.
