Everett John Wadley was born on January 3, 1903 and enlisted in the United States Navy on January 24, 1923. After completing 18-weeks of Radio Operator’s School, he quickly earned the nickname of “Sparks”. His success led to additional training assignments which included, 9-weeks of Radio-Sound School, 26-weeks of Radio-Material School and 4-weeks of Aviation Link Trainer School. In July 1943, Everett was appointed Chief Radio Electrician. During his career in the U.S. Navy, Everett served on various ships, including the U.S.S. Wyoming (BB-32), and stations, including San Diego, Pearl Harbor, and the Canal Zone. During his time in the Pacific Fleet, he was assigned as a Radio Material Officer to Admiral William Halsey, Naval Station Pearl Harbor. Everett transferred to Fleet Reserve in December 1946. On January 1, 1953, he was placed on the U.S. Navy Retired List and advanced to the rank of Lieutenant. Recognition for his exemplary military service awards included the Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Service Medal, and American Campaign World War II Victory Medal.
