James honorably and dutifully served his country on the PC 1201, a subchaser which patrolled the seas from Guantanamo Bay, Cuba to Trinidad protecting supply laden convoys from evening German U boat attacks. James also served on the USS Corbesier (DE 438), a destroyer escort ship as the Anti Submarine Warfare Officer.
