LtCol Brekke was a highly skilled senior fighter pilot flying the F-105 Thunderchief with the 357th Tactical Fighter Squadron, Takhli, Thailand. He also flew the A-7D Corsair with the 23rd Tactical Fighter Wing (Flying Tigers) at England AFB. He ws twice awarded "TOP GUN" and served as in instructor inthe A-7D aircraft.
