LtCol Cavazos served as an Infantry Officer, Airborne, Ranger, and Diver. Operational units include: 3rd Batallion, 3rd Marines, Desert Shield/Desert Storm; Recon Company, 3rd Marines; Commanding Officer Marine Detachment, USS AMERICA (CV-66); 2nd Batallion, 5th Marines; and combat operations in Iraq and Afghanistan with the 1st Marine Division ans CJIATF-435. He retired after 22 years of dedicated active service.
