Lieutenant Linn served as an Infantry Combat Platoon Leader with Delta Company/4th Battalion/3rd Infantry, 11th Light Infantry Brigade and Charlie Company/1st Battalion/53nd Infantry, 198th Infantry Brigade, I Corps. After 10 years of active duty, he began service in the US Army Reserve, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1992.
