The son of U.S. Navy veterans, Edgar served in The U.S. Army, Reserves, and National Guard. He enlisted as a Tank Crewman and commissioned into the Quartermaster Corps where he was ultimately promoted to Lieutenant Colonel. Denning served in The Pentagon, Korea, Germany, and was among the first to serve under US Africa Command.
