While recovering from shrapnel wounds at an Army field hospital in North Africa, Harold met Anna on a blind date. They were separated when Harold shipped out for the Allied landing at Anzio. The war took them, separately, through several European theaters of operation, but they met again in France near the end of the war.
They were married one week after the surrender of Germany
