Lt Davis served as a Surgical Nurse with the U.S. Army Nurse Corps - as a member of the neurosurgical team. She showed expert care of seriously wounded battle casualities and was awarded the Bronze Star for serving under shell fire and enemy bombing on numerous occasions. She participated in the Tunisia, Sicily, Naples-Foggia (including the Anzio Beachhead), Rome-Arno, Northern Ardennes and Po Valley campaigns.
