Corporal Pollock joined the Marines out of El Cajon, California and became a member of the
famed 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines “Darkhorse”. He deployed with the 31st Marine Expeditionary
Unit in 2002 before deploying to Iraq for Operation: Iraqi Freedom in 2003. Travis excelled as an
infantry Marine and became a Scout Swimmer and Team Leader. A legend on the battlefield and
surgical with his weapon, Corporal Pollock seemed to “multiply” during combat engagements,
reportedly being everywhere at once. He was and is a hero to many
