Corporal Lawence J. Baron Jr.
Feeling a patriotic calling during WWII, Lawrence Baron left high school in
his senior year to join the Army. He spent over two years in the training cadre,
teaching recruits both armed and unarmed self-defense, and how to fire
various weapons. When his class of recruits was ready to be sent overseas
to combat, he’d be transferred to another stateside base to begin training a
new batch of recruits. He served at 7 different military bases, mostly in the
south. A non-commissioned officer, he achieved the rank of Corporal. When
the war was over he was honorably discharged and went on to earn his
Bachelor's Degree at Loyola University. We thank him for his service.
