Served int he US Marine Corps 1929-1933. Participated in Marine Corps Expeditionaary Forces during the Second Nicaraguan Campaign. Achieved the rank of Corporal and awarded the Good Conduct Medal. Known as an excellent aircraft rigger, he spent his working career post military serivce as a mechanic at Naval Air Station North Island in San Diego California.
