After graduation Ernest entered Mesa College and shortly after went into the Marine Corps. He served in Menphis, Tenn. for one year and attended the School for Jet Mechanics. He then received orders to Beautfort, South Carolina, where he worked 21 months as a mechanic. His last 13 months of the service were served in DaNang, Vietnam. Corporal Ernest Cesena served as a Jet Mechanic and Aircraft Maintenance Support. While stationed with Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 225 in Da Nang Cesena's unit participated in Counter-Insurgency Operations against enemy forces.
