Corporal "Chuck" Bahde served in the US Army Air Corps during World War II. He participated in the Iwo Jima landing. As a P-51 armorer, he put his life on the line saving B-29 crash members. He was awarded the Army's Distinguished Service Medal. He served as a member of a B-17 flight crew and an Air Sea Rescue Squadron out of the Philippines.
