Commander Loosbrock served with distinction for nearly 20 years.
Commander Tom Loosbrock was born in Adrian, Minnesota, and was commissioned as an officer in the US Navy in March 1965 after graduating with a degree in mathematics from the University of Minnesota. As one of few nuclear trained flight officers, he flew the P-3 Orion patrol aircraft with VP 48 during the Vietnam War. He subsequently served with several other patrol and training squadrons, including Canadian Armed Forces Squadron VP 407, as NROTC Math Professor and finished his naval career at Navy Manpower and Material Analysis Center Pacific.
Commander Loosbrock has been awarded the Navy Air Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal with four campaign stars. Tom and the units he served with were also awarded the Navy Unit Commendation, the Meritorious Unit Commendation, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and the Navy / Marine Corps Expeditionary Medal.
Tom married his wife Jo in 1984 in his boyhood hometown of Lismore, Minnesota, Tom played baseball and hockey in school, loves the San Diego Gulls hockey and spending time with his sons Michael, Ben and his daughters Michelle and Diane and his seven grandchildren.
