Commander Farrar's Naval career began as a 16 year-old Seaman Aircraft Mechanic. He was promoted to Chief Petty Officer then received a commission and rose to the rank of Commander. He flew as a Bombardier/Navigator in the A3D Skywarrior and Navigator in a PV-2 Neptune. He deployed on multiple aircrft cariers including the USS BON HOMME RICHARD (CV-31).
